Popeye and Friends eat a Ghost Pepper
11 November 2010 | 1 Comment » | Hot Sauce GuruSO, I was at a Halloween party dressed as Popeye and my friend John told me he just got a fresh Bhut Jolokia pepper. He had never tried one and asked if I would eat some with him. What can you say to that? So, he got the pepper out and we got a couple other people to try it with us too!
The Ghost Pepper is the spiciest pepper in the world with a rating on the Scoville Heat Unit scale of over 1 Million SHUs. This turned out to be an interesting twist to the Halloween party. John did quite well eating the Ghost Pepper and so did Carrie and Debby. Mike and Evan found the Ghost Pepper to be a little bit challenging. The Ghost Pepper was quite spicy, I am rating the heat at an 8 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Fun at the Cabin with Habanero Peppers

A few of Josh’s friends wanted to try a habanero pepper with us after watching the videos. They all thought the habanero pepper would be a piece of cake to eat, boy were they wrong! One of the guys lost control of his salivary glands and they ran like an open spigot for about two minutes! Josh totally woosed out! He took one small bite of the habanero pepper and then hid the rest of his and refused to eat it.
The habanero pepper I had was quite spicy, it caused me to tear up some and sweat. About a half hour after eating the habanero pepper, my stomach was not happy for a while. This was some good clean fun back in our home town area! I am always up for eating spicy foods with new victims!
Serrano Pepper Trial

Mike: The Serrano Pepper tastes similar to the Jalapeno Pepper, but sometimes has a little bit of a bitter bite to it. I have added Serranos to some meals including burgers with good results. A Serrano Pepper definitely has a little more heat than a Jalapeno. I am rating the Serrano a 6 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Josh: Peppers, I’m not a fan. Some of you may have seen my performance on the Jalapeno Pepper trial and that did not go very well. The Serrano Pepper was quite similar, but in all aspects worse. The Serrano Pepper is fairly small and lacks intimidation, but the inside packs a punch of poor taste and high heat. I do have to mention that I did finish the pepper, although it did not have time to digest, I still have bragging rights! Again, I have not enjoyed any peppers so far and I am not looking forward to the upcoming peppers. I am rating the Serrano Pepper an 8 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Mike and Isaias eat Habaneros
1 March 2010 | No Comments » | Hot Sauce GuruIsaias and I were having some homemade pico de gallo with jalapenos and habaneros in it and we did not feel it was spicy enough, so we decided to eat the remaining habanero peppers by themselves. The habaneros were pretty spicy, but not as hot as I thought the peppers would be. Josh and I will be eating habaneros at a later time, I thought I would put this one up for your enjoyment.
Jalapeno Pepper Review
11 February 2010 | No Comments » | Hot Sauce GuruMike: The jalapeno pepper has a pretty good flavor, similar to a green pepper with some spice. The heat of the pepper can vary quite a bit, the peppers that we ate had a decent amount of heat. I am rating the jalapeno a 5 out of 10 on the heat scale.
