Mike: Mimi’s Homemade Hot Pepper Salsa was very good. The salsa actually contains jalapeno, chiltipin, and cayenne peppers. This combination of peppers gives the salsa a noticeable bite. Jarred salsa often loses its fresh taste. The fresh taste of this salsa was a pleasant surprise, especially since the salsa was made over three months ago. I am rating this salsa a 4 out of 10 on the heat scale.

Gunther’s Gourmet Tomatillo Salsa Verde
25 July 2010 | No Comments » | Hot Sauce Guru
Mike: Gunther’s Gourmet Tomatillo Salsa Verde is a thin green salsa. I know that they were going for flavor with this salsa and not heat so I was not surprised when I didn’t notice any heat at all. The challenge is that they seemed to forget the flavor also. This sauce tastes like nothing more than pureed tomatillos. We tried the sauce a few different ways to find something good about it, but we were unsuccessful. I threw out the rest of this jar because no one wanted to eat it. Plain Ketchup definitely has more spice than this sauce, so I am rating this sauce a 0 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Josh: This salsa has a greenish color that makes it appear to have flavor, but the salsa is anything but flavorful. The salsa is really quite bland. I thought that bread would enhance the flavor of this salsa, but I was proven wrong. I don’t hate this sauce, nor do I like it. I am rating this sauce a 1 out of 10 on the heat scale. I know that this was a salsa aimed more for flavor, but on the flavor scale, it may be as low as a pitiful 2.
Gunther’s Gourmet Jalapeno Salsa Fresca

Mike – Gunther’s Gourmet Jalapeno Salsa Fresca was a bit of a let down. The salsa sounds and looks good, but is more like a spaghetti sauce. The sauce is quite chunky and lacking on the flavor side. The flavor is good, but very lite, actually pushing bland. I can not recommend this salsa and believe that even Pace Picante Sauce has a better flavor. As for the heat of this salsa, it is almost non-existent. You notice a very slight hint of spiciness in this salsa so I am rating the salsa a 1 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Josh – This salsa tasted similar to a spaghetti sauce and on a chip this tasted just like spaghetti-o’s to me. I thought the flavor of the sauce was decent and there was very little heat. I am rating this salsa a 1 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Gunther’s Gourmet Fiery Cranberry Habanero Salsa

Mike: Gunther’s Gourmet Fiery Cranberry Habanero Salsa has a pretty good flavor with a typical salsa consistency. The sauce has a tomato flavor with a hint of cranberry which is unique. You would never guess there is Habanero peppers in this sauce by the taste or the heat. I am rating this salsa a 2 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Josh: I liked the flavor of Gunther’s Gourmet Fiery Cranberry Habanero Salsa, although I did not taste any cranberry. I did not think the salsa had very much heat so I am surprised that they put a warning label on the jar. I am rating this salsa a 2 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Gunther’s Gourmet Fiery Peri-Peri Dark Cherry Salsa
19 June 2010 | No Comments » | Hot Sauce Guru
Mike: Gunther’s Gourmet Fiery Peri-Peri Dark Cherry Salsa has a very unique flavor. The sauce has the texture of a thin salsa with some chunks. The initial noticeable taste is similar to a smokey salsa and is followed by a cherry after taste. This sauce has a great flavor with very little heat, so you don’t need to be a chile head to be able to try this. I am rating the heat of this salsa a 1 out of 10.
Josh: I liked Gunther’s Gourmet Fiery Peri-Peri Dark Cherry Salsa, which surprised me because cherries mixed with peppers did not sound good. The sauce was pretty good by itself, but I didn’t like the salsa on chips. The heat of this salsa was barely noticeable. Iam rating this salsa a 1 out of 10 on the heat scale.
