Naga Jolokia Hot Sauce Samples
13 March 2011 | No Comments » | Hot Sauce Guru
These sauce samples were sent to us from Golden Toad Hot Sauces. They are coming out with a new sauce and narrowed the recipe down to these two versions. They asked us for our opinion on the sauces. They decided on their final recipe and launched their new hot sauce containing the Naga Jolokia Pepper and Habanero Peppers. The new sauce is under Xtinction Sauces. You can email me at hotsauceguru@gmail.com to get your own bottle of this sauce now!
Mike: I definitely enjoyed the hotter version of the hot sauce better. I was leaning towards that sauce on the initial trial and afterwards I sampled both sauces on various foods including eggs every morning until the samples were gone. This hot sauce has a slightly similar tasted to some Habanero hot sauces I have tried. This hot sauce has a great flavor and a good amount of heat! I am looking forward to sampling the final product, I know it will be awesome. I am rating this sauce a 7 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Josh: I liked the second hot sauce better than the first. This hot sauce is very spicy, but it still has a good flavor. Although I liked the flavor of this hot sauce, it is a little too spicy for me to eat on a regular basis. I am rating this hot sauce an 8 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Popeye and Friends eat a Ghost Pepper
11 November 2010 | 1 Comment » | Hot Sauce GuruSO, I was at a Halloween party dressed as Popeye and my friend John told me he just got a fresh Bhut Jolokia pepper. He had never tried one and asked if I would eat some with him. What can you say to that? So, he got the pepper out and we got a couple other people to try it with us too!
The Ghost Pepper is the spiciest pepper in the world with a rating on the Scoville Heat Unit scale of over 1 Million SHUs. This turned out to be an interesting twist to the Halloween party. John did quite well eating the Ghost Pepper and so did Carrie and Debby. Mike and Evan found the Ghost Pepper to be a little bit challenging. The Ghost Pepper was quite spicy, I am rating the heat at an 8 out of 10 on the heat scale.
2010 Hot Pepper crop

Here is a video of the plants now. Most of the hot pepper plants were grown from seeds and it has been just over three months. Many of the plants have flowered and some even have some peppers starting. One of the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) plants is really taking off and has atleast one pepper starting.
I also showed some of the habanero peppers harvested off the plant that I bought. There were three plants and two died. The last plant seems to be doing well and we have harvest twelve orange habanero peppers from it already.
I am excited to try some of the more exotic hot peppers that will be ready in the near future.
Bhut Jolokia Brownie (Ghost Pepper)
29 May 2010 | 1 Comment » | Hot Sauce GuruMike: Bhut Jolokia Brownie by Heart Breaking Dawns was awesome! I have always enjoyed spicy chocolate treats and this one was no different. Spice and chocolate go together great, so when you take a chocolate brownie and add a Ghost Pepper, how could you go wrong. The brownie was a little dry, but the taste was good and the heat level was great. This is a great treat for you to enjoy if you like spicy foods and a great treat to give friends (or enemies) for fun. I am rating the heat of the brownie a 6 out of 10.
Josh: WOW, talk about heat!! This chocolate delight isn’t as soothing as it looks because it is cooked with the world’s hottest pepper, the Ghost Pepper. I did myself a favor and only ate a small crumb and that was still very spicy. My mouth was burning for about half an hour after eating the brownie. Chocolate and spicy do mix together better than I thought. Maybe if the brownie was made with a Jalapeno Pepper I may be able to stand the heat and enjoy the brownie. Maybe I shouldn’t be throwing these ideas out since I will probably regret it later. The Bhut Jolokia brownie is INTENSE. i recommend that you try one or at least pull a prank on someone and make them a brownie sundae. I am rating the Bhut Jolokia Brownie a 9 out of 10 on the heat scale.
Surprise Ghost Pepper
6 May 2010 | No Comments » | Hot Sauce GuruA couple of days ago another Bhut Jolokia sprouted. This one popped out of the dirt over two months after being planted and weeks after the other two Ghost Pepper plants. I am very excited to try some fresh Ghost Peppers this fall, we should have a huge harvest!
Josh, the Hot Sauce Virgin is not so excited about these. These peppers are going to be a big jump, not to mention Josh has vomited every pepper that he has eaten so far. We just filmed a Serrano Pepper trial which will be posted this week, check that out to see what I mean!
